the ear hears the voice that is being read the voice that is hearing itself speak as the hand marks the paper imagining itself hearing being spoken at an intimate gathering

he is speaking not me as I read him hearing about something that is speaking through him

he has heard it all before in another fashion the same thing saying exactly the same thing only less distinct

I listen to the silence through which his voice becomes mine as the black marks are animated into interior monologue

Impenetrable interiority?

Problem: 'Man would not be man if it were denied him to speak -- ceaselessly, ubiquitously, with respect to all things, in manifold variations, yet for the most part tacitly -- by way of an "It is"'.

Let's think of someone else …

Never hearing. Never seeing.

Imagine:
Without language a language. A basic wordless word based on heat, smell, taste, touch, a grammar of surfaces. An imaginary world springs into Being without having once heard or seen a word. A language older than words, a language that is only beginning, free of obstacles, the obstructions of too much hearing and too much seeing. I do not speak it, I cannot write it, it is not here.

Worlds in darkness, silence below the threshold of philosophical audibility. Underworld never meant to Be. Not properly human, or not properly language, or not my language?
